RE: Canadian Rockies/

Hi,
I agree with Horsedoc this dialog is great. Now, how about some names of campgrounds take reservations? We enjoy staying in state parks that have electricity in the U.S. So if you have been to any of the places paulj's suggested, where was your favorite place to camp? What month is the best for traveling in Canada.
Thanks for your help.

RE: Canadian Rockies/

Hi
I hope you don't mind if I ask a question using this post.We are planning a trip through the Rockies too. PaulJ's route is what we have planned. How are the roads and are there any bad mountain grades that we should know avoid?
Thanks for your help.

Campground rules for number of pets

Hi,
I've been reading about people who travel with their pets. I see that they have dogs and cats. I also read that campgrounds have limits on how many pets that they allow per camper, usually 2 pets. So if people have two dogs and bring their cat, How do they register their 3 pets?
I'm just curious because we want to go on a 3 month trip and will be taking the 2 dogs and don't want to leave the cats at home.
Thanks for your help.

Dreaming of a campground in Florida for the winter that

Hi,
I would like to spend the winter (Jan.-Mar.) at a Florida campground that would be within close walking distance of the Gulf. I would like to be in an area warm enough to wear shorts and t-shirts most of the days. I would like a clean, friendly campground. It doesn't have to have a lot of activities but I would like a nice swimming pool area. Have you found this place and what's the name of the campground where you stayed? How much would the camping fees be for the months of Jan.-March.
Thanks for your help.

RE: Where can I find picnic tablecloth/bench?

Hi,
I just bought a great tablecloth and bench covers at Camping World. They are still on sale for $33 (regular price $44), but if you are a member it is even cheaper. It is very good quality. I bought it in red and white checked. Both the tablecloth and bench covers are flannel lined and the best part is they (tablecloth and bench covers) have adjustable cords that you can gather at the edges so they can fit most tables and the ends can't blow around and cause drinks and plates to spill.
The only negative I have about them is that I wanted a little more foam cushion in the bench pad, so I bought some more foam at WalMart and lay it on the seat of the bench before I put the cover on the bench. They are really comfy.
Check it out online at Camping World.

Camping World Gmac insurance for your travel trailer

Hi,
I received a letter advertising Camping World replacement value insurance which is insured by Gmac. We have ours insured by the same company that insures our car and they use a blue book price to calculate the amount of money they will pay if your trailer is totalled. They do not sell replacement value insurance for travel trailers. Does anyone have the Camping World policy? Has anyone ever had to use the Gmac policy. If so how did you like it?
Thanks for your help.

RE: Land Between the Lakes

Hi,
We have stayed at Hillman and Piney. We like Piney best especially if you can get a site on the lake. You can watch the barges float by the campground. Once we saw a paddle wheel tour boat float by the campground. It was night and the lights were on and the music could be heard as it floated by the campground. Piney has some bike trails.
Hillman is nice too but the campground is smaller and its sites are
closer together.
Some really fun things to see and do are the wolf visitor center and the buffalo at the Home center, and the Planetarium has some evening star gazing times. Don't forget to visit the lock and dam. That is always fun to watch.
Have a fun vacation.

RE: Hensly arrow or Equal-i-zer

Hi,
I'm writing from a navigator's and wife's point of view. When we bought our 28 ft. trailer we were new to towing and I was very nervous about towing. My brother-in-law said buy a Hensley. So I decided that my peace of mind was worth the price of a Hensley and wrote out the check and bought a New Hensley. We have traveled up and down mountains from coast to coast, very windy plains, and in unexpected heavy rain storms. I can truly tell you that HA controls sway. We are stopped at rest areas by people who are towing behind us on the highway and they always comment about how well our trailer travels down the highway. It's a very peaceful and calm ride. I'm usually looking at scenery and relaxed even when traveling through big cities. I'm not trying to sell you anything; just telling my story. My husband loves the HA too. We turn on Miss Garmin(our name for our Garmin Gps) and we confirm the route and we are off. Good Luck with your decision.

Campgrounds along the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia

Hi,
We are planning a trip along the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia in early summer. Probably using Roanoke and Stauton as two of our camping locations and then day trips from each of them. We have a 30 ft. travel trailer. We would like to stay in campgrounds near or on the parkway. Do any of the national forest have campgrounds with elec? If not, then what is the name of a good private campground.
Thanks for your help.

Maumee Bay State Park in Michigan

Hi,
We are planning a trip to Maumee Bay state park in MIchigan at the end of June. I've been told that this might be black fly season. Has anyone camped there during this time and had trouble with Black Flies. Also what is the difference between campgrounds 1 and 2. Where did you stay? We need a site large enough for our truck and a 30 ft. trailer.
Thanks for your help.

RE: Camp Hatteras NC vs. Ocean Waves NC

Hi,
We stayed at Camp Hatteras on the sound side in June 2007. We enjoyed watching the beautiful sunsets and the wind surfers from our campsite. There isn't a swimming beach on the sound side. It was quieter on the sound side than the ocean side because there aren't as many campsites on the sound side. The restrooms were very nice and clean. We took our dog and we checked him after walks for sand burrs. He seemed to find one every walk. We had grass between our campsite and the one next door. We liked parking on the concrete pads so that when it rained the water drained quickly. The concrete pads also kept the camper cleaner too. I don't remember any pull through sites.
I would love to go back and stay there again.

scenic hwy 25 and 23 along the coastline of Lake Huron MI

Hi,
This summer we plan to go to Mackinaw City, Michigan. We will be stopping over in Detroit, Michigan. Has anyone traveled the scenic Hwy 25 at Port Huron to Bay City and Hwy 23 from Bay City to Mackinaw City? Is the view worth the extra time getting to Mackinaw City? Did you tow a trailer?
Thanks for your help.
